About Clun Farm Eggs

A family run business for 3 generations

Clun Farm Eggs is a family run business with 3 generations still working on the farm and has been trading since 1964.

Our farm is situated on the edge of the small town of Clun which is in the south west of Shropshire in the heart of an area designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The farm currently has both free range and colony cage units producing 9,000 dozen eggs a week. These eggs are all sold direct to approximately 250 businesses including independent shops, hotels, café’s, restaurants and market stalls in Shropshire, Herefordshire and a large area of mid wales.

We pride ourselves on producing fresh quality eggs with a regular and reliable delivery service.

How do we do this?

Over 50 years’ experience of looking after chickens and putting their welfare first gives us the best quality eggs. All our hens are fed a high quality feed which is sourced locally from Lloyds animal feeds (a Shropshire based company) this quality feed gives a rich golden coloured yolk which you will find hard to match.

All our eggs are packed by hand which in turn means less damaged and poor-quality eggs being packed than on a mass-produced machine packed system.

All our eggs are packed within 24 hours of being laid. They are then delivered the following day so you cannot get fresher!

We have our own delivery vans with at least one out every day of the week and two out on some days

This gives our customers a reliable and regular delivery of fresh eggs.

All our eggs are stamped with our own unique producer code for traceability.

All our chickens are bought from another local Shropshire company “country fresh pullets” they are reared on local farms from day old chicks to “point of lay” which is around 16 weeks old. They then come to us and are housed in our modern poultry building (built in 2012) which meets all the latest animal welfare standards.

All our hens are vaccinated against salmonella and are tested for salmonella every 105 dayscopies of these test results are available by emailing [email protected]

We have routine unannounced inspections from (DEFRA) Egg Marketing inspectors who inspect all aspects of egg production including, hygiene, marketing, bird welfare, weights & measures and production numbers.
